Default Bridesmaid /photographer

Hi everyone, I am a bridesmaid at my bestfriends wedding. The bride is a great friend /sister i have known her since i was little, and the groom whom i have known for almost a year is like a big brother to me.I am student photographer , the bride and her fiance want me to not bring my camera so i can enjoy the day with them since i am "family" but inside i want to bring my camera. To abide by their wishes i was going to have my parents bring the camera to the reception then i could take pictures then. What do you think i should do i want to bring the camera but i also want to make them happy.
thanks

The bride and groom are right, relax, dance and enjoy the day and let the hired professionals handle the photography. I understand that peope love to take pictures, but continually putting a camera in front of your face in this situation can easily create a barrier between you and your friends. Wait until someone is paying you to cover a wedding then bring our your camera and shoot away, until then relax and party with your friends.

Yes, drink up and be merry - forget the camera

Default Great moment

Hi there. They are all right. Give yourself a break on that day. And they requested that for your all to be happy on their wedding day.

I've shot weddings whilst being a guest and also the giver awayer(?). It's fun, but extra work. You don't enjoy the day quite as much because you're always looking to make sure your getting the shot and the second you put down the camera to have a drink you either miss something or feel bad and judged because you should be taking pics :P

you are in the wedding which is a level up from being a guest. bring a point and shoot to document the day so you can feed the need to shoot but bringing a huge DSLR is going to be a bit much while you are taking care of your Bridesmaid duties. You will have plenty of opportunities to shoot weddings in the future

If the bride wants you to leave the camera at home then I say you shouldn't bring it. It's not a good idea to disobey a bride on her wedding day. It's her day, she wants to enjoy it with her friends and family. Even if you're happier with a camera in your hand, if you're busy taking pictures it makes it harder for her and the rest of the party to socialize with you.
