Default ?Leaving my gear in the car?

OK we are going on a trip this weekend and I would love to take my camera so I can stop and take some pics along the way. Problem is that on saturday I would have to leave my gear in the truck of the car all day. Highest temp is suppose to be around 74 degrees.

Would this mess up my camera or anything?

No worries. It will be fine. There are times when you want to watch for extremes of temp but @ 76 you should be good to go.

I wouldn't leave my gear in the car unless I had insurance to cover it... Heck... my cousin got his gear stolen when it was in his house... people these days SMH...

Depending on time of day and location the inside of the vehicle could be 20-25 degrees hotter than outside. Still.... I think I'd be more worried about thieves.

Weekend trip? Staying in a hotel? If the rooms don't have safes then they usually have safe deposit boxes at the front desk. Perhaps you could use one to put your camera in for the day?

Put the camera in an insulated cooler before putting it in the trunk, don't park in the sun.

Don't let anyone see you put anything of value in the trunk, but who's going to steal a nasty old ice chest?

I used an ice chest for years. Now I have one of those heavy duty Pelican cases, which you can lock and it's chained to an eyebolt in the trunk. So, when the alarm goes off, they better have a hack saw and be quick about it.

I leave stuff in the car all the time, just lock it and make sure the stuff is out of sight.

You could also rent a Pitbull and keep him in the car with it

Unfortunately if I take it leaving it in the car is the only option. It will be in the trunk, under all the luggage, I like the cooler idea though.
