Default A new D7000

arrived at my doorstep this morning with a note that said "Just Because."
I thought that maybe I had acquired a filthy rich secret admirer, but then I realized that I have the greatest husband ever. And, after squealing like a little girl and jumping up and down, I realized the last thing I sent him was a box of oreos.

It was completely a want, and not a need. But you can't really blame me, since it was gift. And need or not, I'm so excited!
I've got the battery charging, and I'm off to settle in with a cup of coffee and the manual. And to try and come up with a really nice gift for him...

Congrats on the new camera! I am sure you will love it!

No need to think too hard on what to get. He's a guy!

I think you should do is send him a photo of a box of Oreos and then admit you owe him a big O!!!!

Looking forward to seeing some photos with your new toy..

A box of Oreos? Hmmmm Big spender. Congrats on the new camera. Can't wait to see some shots from it.

As for your husband, I agree with Lucas...guys are easy to buy for and please. If you "show your appreciation", be sure to tell him what it is for, otherwise he will think he missed your anniversary. ~

Congrats on your new camera! Can't blame you for already charging up the battery. My hubby got me a new D7000 this year too. I have to admit, I liked my D200 better, but the D7000 sure has grown on me.

If your hubby is like mine, I try to pick up small tools that he can use in a pinch. He has some he carries with him to work, & others that he keeps in his car or at home. Tools are almost always appreciated. Then again, he likes a really nice dinner now & then too. LOL

Can't wait to see some pics! Enjoy!

Thanks for the ideas Marla. Unfortunately, hubs is on deployment, on a big ship in the middle of the ocean. So dinner and tools is kinda out, for the next few months at least.

And gentlemen, thank you so much for your, uh, creative responses. But he's been gone for 7 months now, so that kind of appreciation has been shown in some very creative ways, many times over.

After the initial excitement has somewhat settled and I've had some time to think, I think I've discovered his underlying motive. It seems like a rather large coincidence that this generous gift comes at the same time as the announcement of the new Iphone. The one that he's been not so patiently waiting for. So, I think I'll take the hint and get it for him before he makes it home in December.

Bet he won it in a poker game

Seriously, what a guy! You must be very special to him - congrats on the camera. Just a hint - go to Amazon and get a book on the D7000 - those manuals do little more than tell what the buttons are for - the books tell you so much more - great tips and short-cuts etc. Have fun with it!

You're referring to the situation, right? Or are you offering ideas for a thank you gift?

I'll do that. Thanks. Any that you'd specifically recommend?

I got Daniel Busch's Nikon D7000 which I found quite helpful, Mindy.
