Default The "missed it by that much" thread

I'm not sure if we've already got one of these somewhere already, but how about posting shots you "almost" got?

Here's my cat crawling out of a floor vent. I can't keep the stupid cat out of 'em. He keeps pulling up the vents and crawling inside, then he'll meow for a while and eventually come back out. I thought I had him for sure this time, but I missed the focus. There's a couple more shots that are focused better, but this is the expression I wanted. :-(

Lol! That's some cat you've got there. If he keeps doing it then it sounds like you'll have plenty of other chances to try and get the perfect shot of him.

Here's mine. I was shooting the local rodeo just for fun this past August. The mutton busting is always fun, when the little kids hop on sheep and hold on as best they can. When they were finished they chased all the sheep to the far end of the ring and this boy hopped on. I wasn't expecting it and grabbed the shot as fast as I could. Missed focus, framed it all wrong, and clicked a half a second too late after the boy was already falling off.

Haha! Love the expression! Yeah, pity you missed the focus. I've taken plenty of shots like this over the years, but I mostly delete them

Cute cat

Mine was this saturday: my dad took me to this place by his work where salmon swim by. In one point, there`s an island in the middle of the river, and the water is too shallow for them to pass, so they have to wait there for rain to pass. So, were crossing the river (about 2m wide) to get to the island, and he happened to to step near a salmon. It goes CRAZY and just starts flopping all over the place for at least a minute, soaking him head to toe. My camera was still in my bag (and I was laughing ), so I didn`t get the picture of it splashing, but after It calmed down and we backed off a bit, I got a quick snap shot.

This was no small fish. Something like 2 feet long, and a good 8 inches fat. Not a fish you want to piss off.

I took one of granddaughter and the focus was completely off and it was grainy. I tried processing it to look kind of old timey. I love the expression on her face.

I was out trying my new 150-500 lens on Sunday.. I had a lovely heron as a subject, and I'd been waiting paitiently for it to take off for about half an hour, herons have to be the most boring animals on earth.. They stand very still for ages and ages without moving at all.. You think Sloths are slow movers!!

Anyway, I looked down at my watch for half a second.. You guessed it, the bloody thing chose that moment to take off.. I captured a couple of shots, but it was already flying away from me, and because I was hurried on the button, at 500mm I was getting camera shake.. Darn..

I'll upload a photo later.

Cool idea for a thread David! I have a ton of these that may be worth sharing! Out of focus or not, the cat picture is still pretty awesome!

Was taking shots of the full moon in June..... was in the process of turning camera to remote trigger, when I looked up there was my shot of an airplane flying in front of the moon. I hit the remote but of course it didn't fire.... I proceeded to frantically pound on the remote and it finally sent the signal to the camera..... just in time to miss my perfect shot.

This was me ~~~~~>
