Default Hello from Key West

Just want to take a minute and say Hi. I just joined the forum today. My name is Gary. I live in Key West, FL. I am a Realtor here in The Florida Keys and signed up to take a Digital Photography Class at the local college to help enhance my listing and advertising strengths. I was amazed at how much more there is than aim and shoot. I am having the time of my life in this class and have become a camera junkie. Still fairly new so I'll be here asking a lot of questions.

I look forward to getting to know each of you more as time goes on.

Gary

Thanks for the welcome. You're right. KW is a fun place to live and work. I go to work selling houses on the water in shorts, tee shirt, flip flops and a Boston Red Sox hat. Has some disadvantages like "K-Mart" being the big shopping mall, 3+ hour drive to see a concert or a ball game etc. I am literally 36 miles closer to Havana than the nearest Walmart. But, when I weigh the good vs the bad I wouldn't leave here for anything.

Welcome, Gary. I was the best man at a wedding held at the Southernmost Mansion this July. Key West is beautiful but the heat and humility were shutting down my organs. The booze may have also been a contributing factor.

The heat does take some getting used to. I grew up in Boston. Took me 3 summers before I was comfortable. Been here 18 years now. Anything below 85 degrees and I break out the jacket. Southernmost Mansion is beautiful. A friend of mine owns it. They hold a bunch of local charity events there.

Could be the booze too though. KW is a small drinking town with a big tourist problem. They say you can tell how long a person has lived here by how much time they spend on Duval Street. My first couple years I was there every time I had a chance. Now I go when I have something specific I need to do. Do what I need to do and leave.

Yeah we barely made it to Duval Street. They kept that little bar by the pool staffed just about 24/7 for us since we bought out the entire Mansion. There were no survivors.

Welcome to the madhouse, don't mind the natives, they only bite at feeding time.

I think I'm going to enjoy the Natives. So far everyone seems fun.

Welcome - love what I've seen about Key West and that part of the world. Should make for some great photographs - hope you post some here. It's a great forum with some great people - and the rest are okay too. Then there's Max
