Anyone know how these shots were taken and what post processing was done to make these images look like this?

I think the key to shots like that are the people, notice how they are all old, scraggly, rough faced motted haired... scranny scranners?
Young people have smooth skin so you don't get the detail. As for processing, I imagine he banged up the clarity and went nuts with the dodge/burn tools in photoshop
