Default I applogize

I really did try and find it myself. I'm looking for anything on photographing in the rain. I searched for "rain" "tips for Rain" "Photographing in the rain" I didn't get anything useful.

I have a shoot tomorrow at an abandoned Ford plant. the roof is sketchy and they are calling for rain on and off all day. I'd LOVE to get some rain shots.

Can anyone point me in the direction of rain photography advice?

Im not sure where there's rain advice but, in general a couple points

Keep your camera dry, esp if it is not waterproofed - the lens mount on a dslr is usually the weakest link.

Rain will often become invisible in images that are not very short - especially when the rain is really pouring.

Rain shows up best if there's some kind of backlighting - otherwise it will usually just be apparent in the shiny wet textures of things - or in pools of water

I'm not a spe******t on that subject but I believe you can try to freeze the rain and light it up with a flash. You can find a few examples of that on Flickr.
Not sure about the technique but worth a try.

I have shot motor sport in the rain.

As others have said, keep your gear dry (I use Optech rainsleeves), and yourself dry.

Light levels will be realtively low so you may need some sort of camera support.
To give you an idea of the effect of shutter speed on rain drops this DPS tute may help.

Falling rain at different shutter speeds.

I like to do a bit of this for inspiration

I've also seen some nice wedding shots in the rain.

Nice. I Googled till my eyes bled. Stayed up way past my bedtime. Thought I'd find more useful advise here.

Saw these shots. They are beautiful. To bad I don't know how to shoot them.

At least Google helped me figure out how to keep my gear dry. I prefer the glad & rubber band method. Oh, and a large umbrella with a hook handle. Spent $13 on the umbrella, the rest I had laying about the house. The gear and I returned home. Gear dry, me not so much. Shots were just OK. Good thing I have no delusions on going pro. I had fun though and learned a thing or two.

OK, THIS is very helpful. I worked the search option to death and didn't find this. I guess I'm just search stupid.

Gonna work on this today. We have a nor'easter in town. Mucho rain. Guess I need to break out the glad and rubberband.

Thanks!
