Default Choices choices, what to sell / keep

I've decided to let go of my D700 or my D3. The D700 bodies are hard to find so I should be able to get a decent price. I'm thinking $2500 shipped. I'll put it up on a few sites and if it doesn't go, no big deal, but I think it will.

The D3 probably won't fetch quite so much, so I almost prefer to just shoot it to death and sell the D700.

Either way, I'll be down to three bodies and we won't be accepting double bookings any longer. Two and a spare will be plenty rather than needing two full sets at two different sites.

Thoughts before I post the ad?

$2500 is a bit steep for a used D700, or at least it is round here, they're selling at $2300 new with guarantee, and second hand at $1700 with less than 10,000 shutter releases round here.

Either way, sell it asap.. As soon as Nikon start selling the D800, the prices of the D700 will fall.

They actually aren't selling at all new, especially not at $2300 (Retail is $2699) because they can't be found for the most part. Ebay and Amazon are selling them above retail regularly. I'll look up the refurb price and use that as a base since this is really all but new.

I'd definitely keep the D3 and sell the 700...I much prefer the handling of the pro bodies.

I looked the price up with a local authorised Nikon dealer before posting. This is a Swiss dealer so I can't speak for your neck of the woods, but at current exchange rates this comes out to just over $2300 (And going down because the $ is getting stronger against the Swiss Franc). The green square below the picture indicates "In Stock" ... Should I be buying one to resell?

I don't know about over there, but all the major dealers are "out of stock" on this side of the pond.

I could add a batter grip to it to make it feel more like my D3/D3s bodies, but we'll see.

Seconded. Your D700 should fetch a nice price too.
