Default Massage????

Tried to lg into Flickr this evening, the message I get is;

Flickr is having a massage.

For updates, please check the Flickr Blog and our Twitter account.

WTF?? How does a website have a massage & why can't I log into my flickr? Wanted to upload some photos, is all.

Looks like someone's going to be losing their job.. Basically Flickr's database seems to have got fk'd and the system is down, they're restoring the data to backup servers.

What they're suggesting is that you take a photo, tag it "FlickrMassageOct2011" and they'll cover it in their blog..

Wouldn't want to be at Flickr HQ right now..

Think I'll go take some photies!

I got that message and just thought it was down for some maintenance, Didn't read much into it to be honest.

Flickr is "thousands" of servers.. I've been to the Yahoo HQ for Switzerland, and it consists of about a football pitch full of server racks, each stacked full of servers, and that's just Switzerland.. I was told that there's over a million servers in total serving Yahoo (Which includes Flickr). Being "down for maintenance" is not something to be taken lightly.. They don't do that, they've got fail overs for the fail overs. Going off line for this length of time suggests something more serious than just maintenance..

Well it must be their crap OZTIPS footy tipping site. It worked great until Yahoo took it over and then completely stuffed it.

There will be lots of competitions NOT using Yahoo next footy season. They will do or are doing the same to Flickr.

Why do I dislike yahoo?

Cheers,
