Backlit Box

I just found this today -- another far out presentation idea: Backlit Boxes.

I've got a handful of photos that would work great for this -- I'm thinking of this one in particular. About the only hesitation I've got right now is the thought of a cord dangling down from the frame. Other than that, it's a very, very cool idea.

It's an actual light box. It uses an actual print instead of a digital image.

Those are awesome and the prices aren't bad either.

Fedex Office has been doing those for years. Never seen anyone actually order one though. Quality's pretty good, but I don't know if you get a choice of box color.

That's what I was getting at..

The print is OF a digital image, the photo frames are back lit.. I'm not saying anything and about this, I'm just wondering how having one of these differs from a photo frame, seeing as they both show digital images and are back lit..

What's the difference in the quality?

One's pixels and one's ink. Depending on the source image, I'd imagine the printed version looks better at any size. I doubt they have HD digital photo frames yet, so 300 dpi > 72 ppi.
Of course, with a digital frame you can change the image whenever you want, and with the lightbox you have to have something printed--the cost winner is obvious. But for viewing the image, print trumps screen every time.
