Default Do you ever lose interest?

There is a time when I think about photography nonstop. Where could I go? What can I read/learn today? What could I’ve done differently with my previous photos? What could I try in PP? What I don’t know about my camera yet?
I can hardly wait the night to sit in front of my computer to read/see/learn. (Nowadays I don’t have time to actually take pictures because I babysit all day)
And all of a sudden, I woke up one morning and don’t really care about photography. I simply lose interest in it. Don’t know how and why but I can’t force myself to take a photo or even read something about photography.
Then after some time, all of a sudden, I woke up one morning and really care about photography. love those days
Have you ever experienced something similar?
I know that one can’t be inspired all the time but I’m talking about taking some time off from everything related to photography…
P.S. haven't been here for a while. it's good to be back

It is an artistic endeavor and has its ebbs and flows like painting , writing and the like. So I think what your experiencing is pretty normal. Even in "regular" jobs, some days you are on fire and other days you just want to sleep in

I'm in the same boat right now. It's all I can do to pick up a camera anymore. It's been like that for months now. But yeah, it ebbs and flows. I try to at least stick around here every day though. My reasoning is keeping myself immersed in it.
This hobby has been very different for me this time.
Used to, when I played guitar, I had to have ALL the good equipment, and I also forced myself to practice 8+ hours a day. I got really sick of it after a couple of years, and dropped a bunch of money in the process.
This time around, I am more or less just letting it flow. If I do, I do. If I don't, I try not to let it bother me. I also made a pact with myself not to buy anything unless I absolutely needed it. I have been serious about photography for the past couple of years, but I am still under $1000.00 for gear bought. I am pretty proud of myself for that little feat!
I do feel your pain, and you are not alone!
It's also good to see you back around again too!

Been that way this year about motorbikes.. It's not just photography.. Some days I wake up and it's a nice day, and riding the bike seems tike the only thing to do, some days I just can't be bothered.. More often that.. So than wanting to go out.. When I do it's a real blast..

But for me, photography is still a novelty.. I still have purpose.

Tell yourself "I'll get the camera out in 1 month." Set a date.

Yeah, I went through the money pit guitar thing also. I have one for sale on Ebay right now then I'll be sticking to the one I have left for quite some time. I'm currently in a photography hiatus at the moment and have been for the past couple of months. Mostly working on older shots because I'm taking so few new ones. It's not because I'm losing interest though, it's because of serious health issues with a family member and that takes up most of our spare time. I know I take my bag of gear for a lot of drives though

I had a soul-sucking job from June 2008-December 2010. Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened to me.

The job involved occasional travel, and I took my camera with me, but I never felt like snapping the shutter. Now, my job doesn't suck my soul, and I have the shutter actuation counts to prove it.

Sometimes you just go through lulls. If I'd have made myself get out there and take pictures, it might have restored my soul a bit during that horrible, horrible job.

I have been interested in photography since I was a kid (4th decade now).

I have moments when I don't take photos for days (rarely goes longer then a week or so), & then I go on a clicking spree. I always carry my camera with me when I am running errands or just out & about. It usually never leaves its bag, but ya just never know when something interesting & worth shooting will pop up. Sometimes, I shoot a just a few frames & other times I fill multiple cards. Just depends on the day & the situation as to how things roll.

I have another hobby that is just as intensive as photography. If I get tired of one hobby, I go do the other hobby.

Yeah, I am in a terrible place right now with photography. Not motivated at all. I know I should be trying to do something. Anything to move forward and get better. But I just can't. I haven't done anything with my camera in months. It's been about a year now that I haven't had a lot of interest, but now in the last three or four it is NO interest. I got all ready to do some sp's the other day, turned the camera on and then lost it and put it all away. It's so frustrating!!!

So yeah, I know how it is.

Good to see you around again!
