Default Friday Rant

Ok, I'll get the Friday rant started. I'm getting pretty tired of seeing this screen -- almost always just about the time I hit "submit" after typing in a good, long reply to a post here.

How many banner ads do we have to have plastered here before Darren can buy hosting that doesn't doesn't barf on its own shoes half a dozen times a day??

Oh yeah, I get that a lot. But I adopted the habit of copying my post before submitting it since the time of friendster (suffered a lot of that too).

How much is a hosting anyway?

Ever since the beginning when I joined DPS, I always have to freaking log in everytime I go to another section in the forum or if I have to freaking look at messages or my account, or attached photos in the critique. It gets so bloody tiring always blooding logging in when you've already logged in 5 times beforehand.

And yeah, what's up with the server being down thing lately? I thought it was just me.

Try Firefox with AdBlock plus, Ghostery, NoScript and Flashblock. I've never saw an ad here and the pages always load in a timely manner.

I pay $6 a month for hosting, I think, and for high-volume stuff, hosting costs can go up to $100 or more a month for dedicated servers.

I'm really not sure how many page views this forum gets per day, but it can't be much more than 10,000 or so a day, can it (that's 100 posts w/ 100 views each day)? I don't think that's beyond the capabilities of a good shared host (maybe $15 / month or so).

Maybe it's one of the third-party scripts, then.

Ghostery shows seven trackers being blocked
No Script is showing nine scripts and I'm blocking all of them.
