Default I need a pose

I need to take a self portrait today and I'm not sure about the pose.
Here is what I definitely need to happen.
The viewer of the photo needs to be able to read what is on the front of my shirt AND I need to hold a sign up that can be read as well. The sign is actually just a piece of paper that I am going to photoshop words onto because my handwriting stinks.
Of course, my face needs to be in it. Don't really care how much of my legs or lower body is in the photo.
The only thing that I can come up with is holding the sign off to the side in one hand, but is that my only choice?

Gonna do this later this afternoon, so if you have any bright and wonderful ideas, please feel free to share.

Don't hunch your shoulders.. You seem to have done that in your profile picture, and I get back ache just from looking at it.. In addition, it make the frame look small, kinda like you're hunched up inside a box.. Put some space between you and the edges, and hold the sign low and do a full length portrait.. Kinda like this (Only try not to look quite so shocked)... EDIT: Damn, I forgot you needed to wear a teeshirt.. Oh well, the pose is good anyway, even if the expression is a bit wierd and she's wearing a bikini.

Just substitute the gun for a sign, put on a shirt and you're good to go.
(sorry, couldn't resist!)

In the spirit of not being totally useless (as usual):

An alternative of the below without the cheesey thumbs up and maybe looking at the camera. Have a white board in your hand and then do your PS magic on it.

Or, something a bit more fun, sitting cross legged with the sign above your head.. this image is to just give you an idea of the feel

Haha Big Fuzzy! You're just a regular ole wise guy........

Good ideas here. Thank you!! Maybe I'll try all the ideas while I have everything set up and see what works best.
I am trying to take a photo of me in my BC Awareness T-shirt and put info about my friend who passed away over the summer on the sign, so it needs to be serious, not silly. So no bikinis Jon, lol.

How about something like this? Maybe on a stool instead of a chair?
Forget about the lighting and the background (I did that real fast )
