Default Landscape website

Hi all, here is the link to my landscape website. It is really new so please please please tell me if you like it or not, If it works for you or not. If it is slow or fast. You are probably connecting from the other side of the world and so it is important to know if the site it's fast everywhere or not. It's in flash..I know that some people hate it but I find it somehow elegant. Waiting for your suggestions.

Thank you

Hi,

I had a look for you, my first issue is simply when I click the link. I'm greeted by a screen with your name and a prompt to click for a full screen view. Nothing happens until I click that at which point a load up begins. You should really have it load with an OPTION to go full screen. Also personally I'd have the thumbnails of your work pop in if an arrow is hovered over or something rather than blocking off the right hand side of your images (which are of great quality by the way!)

Just my two cents.

Paul

Well, I bit and took a look. Nice images. It was a bit slow loading for me and I agree with bigrob. I went to the smaller view and in the water section I tried to click on image #2, when I hovered my arrow over the image, the images scrolled to the next three and I could not click on the one I wanted to see.

Great photos!

I would second the comments about the need for an option to go fullscreen and the right thumbnails being really unpredictable. One more suggestion: some of your photos have elements which are very low (like the last two photos in the Air section). Having the upper and lower strips semi transparent and showing the photos in fullscreen makes it harder to see and comprehend the whole photo, which could be important if someone is deciding whether or not to buy them. Just my 2 cents!

First of all, I'll say your photos are really good. As far as the website goes, I generally don't like having the music on by default. I usually look for the Mute button as soon as I get to a site with music.

I may be missing something here, but I can click the link to see your prices, but I don't see any Buy button for anyone who wants to buy a print. Did I miss it? If so, maybe it has to be more prominent.

Website need work, but the photos work.

Autoloaded music = instant close.

Your monochrome work is, for the most part, really nice. I see you've been playing with Silver Efex Pro. It's a bit difficult to know how to navigate your site once I get there. The flash just ins't cutting it. There are some nice html-based layouts that use js for some elegant presentation effects. Regardless of how good your photos are, people are going to navigate away from your site if they find even the smallest obstacle. There's just too much competition out there to put barriers in front of your visitors. Also, text in a barely-readable font is taking away from your otherwise nice images.

So in a nutshell, you've got some nice photo work. It's too bad your website is getting in the way of us seeing it. Lose the flash, get rid of the text, and most of all do NOT make us listen to that music.

I'll echo the other comments against Flash...and especially music. I use Flash on my website's main page but only for a slide show. The rest of the home page as well as the rest of the site is not Flash so you can still navigate around the site if you don't have it. As for music, I am one of those that will immediately (if not in a panic) hit the back button as soon as I hear music starting (usually too loud). At home, it will inevitably irritate someone in the family. At work...well...it's obvious. Result? Lost viewer. Benefits of having forced music? None I can think of. You wont' miss what you never heard.

Another thing to keep in mind. I heard that currently about 25% of internet viewers cannot see websites with Flash. Currently I am one of them as I am writing on my Ipad so I can't even comment on your site as I can't see it. Same for my phone. 90% of my web browsing is on one of the two. Going forward, this number may increase.

Remember: web sites are made for the viewer, not the owner. It's best to try to please the widest audience possible. This is usually accomplished with stylistic simplicity. Not saying you shouldn't use Flash. Just know the side effects of that decision.
