Default Go Georgia!

Go Georgia!

Apologies to the non-rugby fan, I just can't help myself. I'm just about bursting with excitement over this game tonight, and the next one on Sunday.
I bought the tickets months ago and finally the RWC has landed in Palmerston North. We have the shirts, the beanies and the flags, the face paint is waiting application.
It's not just the game, it's the whole party atmosphere and the coming together of the community to support two teams from countries we barely know. I very cool thing to be involved in.

Enjoy it - though it could be a brutal forwards clash! I feel for the Georgians here though, as they have to back up on Sunday to play the Argentinians and that could be tough. There are still some interesting pool games left and this is a very competitive world cup! Of course, after your home nations demolition of France, I suspect the cup will wing its way back to you.

Tonight's game will be interesting. There's loads of support for each side, we have our very own party central in the town square.
Sunday's game is a bit more of a foregone conclusion.

As to who's going to take the cup, I dare not say. Can't go jinxing it...

Should be a good show Lisa. I'm hoping to go to the Ireland v Italy game here in Dunedin on Sunday - should be good in the new stadium.

Have fun both of you! It is so cool how the communities have taken the teams under their wings. I'm sure everybody will take away wonderful memories of NZ and Kiwis in general no matter who wins the cup. We were in Rotorua last weekend when Ireland played Russia, the atmosphere around town was electric, soooo many campervans smothered in Irish flags and most of the Irish walking around in shorts, singlets and jandals! Brrrrrrrr........

Enjoy it! I think those small countries must get a thrill to play in front of serious rugby fans.

Just glad I am not the TV commentator with those names!

Sorry, I'm going to have to cheer for Mississippi State this weekend.

ps. Congratulations to the Eagles for a relatively successful RWC campaign. Three losses, but nobody walked out without feeling like they'd been in a fight, and the occasional moment of brilliance. Given the status of Rugby Union in the US, that's pretty remarkable, IMO.

Well, that was a blast. I can't say I really saw much of the rugby, but the atmosphere was fantastic. We got to jump up and down and wave our Georgian flags around a lot, our team won the 25-9 - Go Georgia!

You guys are so lucky with your covered stadium. I've been watching the weather forecasts very closely because our tickets are for the uncovered part of our stadium.
Have fun at the game, we'll be flicking back and forth between it and the Warriors game.

Go the Warriors!

The Eagles did well. And I think they count themselves as winners for making it to the tournament. I caught a bit of a documentary about their journey to RWC. It's the same thing when our All Whites make it to the Football/Soccer world cup.

Go Mississippi State!

Some of the fans are a bit crazy. Or maybe they're warmed from within with all that fervour and beer.
There were plenty of barely dressed people at last nights game, and I was shivering in a jacket and woolley hat.
