Angry Then don't take the Damn Picture!

Seeing as how there is a daily rant theme going I thought I might add one...

If it's not worth doing everything you can to make the picture as good as it can be, THEN DON"T TAKE THE DAMN PICTURE!

I see so many pictures from so many people (of all levels) with camera settings all over the place...and then they ask for critique on focus or colors.

Why is it so hard?
Let me make it simple....Base ISO & f/8 (for most lenses) and leave it alone. Change away from those base settings only for very specific reasons with purpose and intent. You'll have to balance those changes and know what you are trading off image quality wise.

Then you can worry about colors/composition/angle/ etc etc etc...

If you're not doing that, or learning to do that, then leave the DSLR at home. Take your P&S, set it on P, and don't ask me for advice!

And definitely don't ask me for advice if you're not going to listen and don't really give a sh!7!

When I use those settings in my dimly lit living room the picture comes out really dark or my kids are all blurry. Anyone know why this is happening? Should I upgrade my camera?

It's because you don't know how to turn on lights and you're a lousy parent that can't control your kids. And yes, upgrade your camera. A professional camera will give you professional results.

That being said, when I first started out, I thought my orange, blurry shots of my kids were GREAT!!!!

Totally agree! Pro camera for Pro shots! That's why there is the "P" mode on the cameras.

Bummer that I can't figure that P mode out though. I can only seem to shoot in M...

Now that's not whining, that's a proper rant!

You mean I can't fix my crappy image by adding a vignette and Dutch angle?

I think the Social Services should have intervened earlier and prevented you from giving them that daily dose of orange food dye..

However I'm going to disagree with the OP.. I can't think of a reason why, but Izzy isn't here and someone's got to, and I'll call him OP because his name's to long.

Nope, been "on vacation" the last two weeks. Putting my house back together since the Susquehanna River entered my basement two weeks ago.
I wish I were at work.
