So, I've had some lifestyle changes recently with my job contract ending and a chance to spend time working as a novelist. So, keep your fingers crossed on that front, but I've had the time to re-evaluate my health. I've not had any real exercise in my life since moving to a place where I had to take a train daily to work - and now, I do a lot of sitting and typing without leaving home.
This has lead me to start a simple routine - of 50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 jumpingjacks and bicycling about 35-50 kilometers, every weekday morning. (Though, I'm at a much lower number of pushups and situps, having recently started, and forgetting to stretch... but I'll work my way up) I'm curious, how do you stay in shape? Do you have a routine, go to a gym? Have a job that requires you to do pullups while seargents carry a weapon and yell at you? What's your story? |

The only pull up I do is when I double face palm over swissjons posts.

Right now im just working on abs and cardio/fat burning. I go to the gym about every other day sometimes two days in a row. do inclined situps (two sets of twenty-five) obliques (two sets of twenty-five) each side, hanging leg raises (two sets of twenty-five) and then sometimes just do a few sets of bench press or curls to mix it up. This is during my lunch break in the middle of my 12 hour shift.
Then every morning after i get off night shift I run about 2 miles at about 8:30 am.

Gym 3 times a week. Start with 2 miles on the treadmill, and then go to the weight machines for about another 45 minutes. Start with the overhead rowing machine for about 130 reps starting at 70lbs and ending at 170lbs. Do some curls on that machine at about 50lbs and then do some dead weight pulls on that machine at 150lbs. Go over to the leg thrust machine (really don't know the official names of these machines) start at 160lbs and work up to 250lbs..probably about 60-70 reps on that. Hit 2 other machines for another series of pulls. Really helps to keep the blood sugar numbers down for this old 70 year old.

1K on the treadmill, 3x26 russian twists, 3x20 pushups, curls, bent over row. That's a basic workout I do at home. At the gym where I can take advantage of the equipment, I'll do just about anything.

Back when I was in shape. Mostly biking, skating, hiking. I got in to martial arts as well. I did things that were fun to me. Routines got boring really quick. Also water. Lots of water. I think it did me more good than any exercise I could ever think of.
