Default Remembering 9/11

I know not everyone on here is American, but I am and I am sitting here in our aircraft hanger on the flightline in Iraq - watching the news and thinking back on Sept 11th 2001. Being a pilot in training it is kind of close to my heart what happend with these pilots on the day these events took place. Thank God, now we are permitted to cary hand guns. Just think of how different this would have gone down had the pilots then had guns to protect their aircraft. Sometimes It makes me mad that America is so anti guns.

But this isn't about guns, this is about those who we lost on Sept 11th 2001 and those who gave their lives to help others and do anything they can to save lives. one mystery still remains about United Airlines Flight 93. Why weren't they able to gain control of the plane? Where was its final destination intended? And why weren't any of the other planes diverted by passengers/flight attendants? We may never know, but the memorial stands at the crash site of Flight 93 and we will always remeber the heroes that were created from this disasterous day.

I am not American but what I can say is that I really do admire them for their patriotism and way they are always so honourable and pull out all the stops to remember the atrocities not just 9/11 but other tragedies too. I wish the British would follow suit.

I believe Flight 93 was headed to the US Capitol or the White House. I believe the passengers weren't able to get control back because the cockpit is TINY (no room for a brawl, which is exactly what would have been needed) and the plane was already flying at a low altitude... simply no time to drag the terrorists out, jump in the seat and gain control in time.

I believe the reason the other planes passengers didn't also try to get control is that until 9/11/2001 Air crew had always been trained to give hijackers what they wanted, that it wasn't worth the risk to passenger lives. 9/11 changed everything and you will never again see an American plane hijacked where people sit around and comply.... those days are gone. It's now stand up quickly and fight back!

I'm very pleased that pilots can carry firearms if they choose.... in fact I'm a bit disappointed that it isn't a requirement.

Here are a couple of pictures I took December 2008 of the FDNY Ten House.... the fire house just across the street from WTC.

I take comfort that on this 10th anniversary of the tragedy, Osama Bin Laden is rotting in hell; it brings a smile to my face to know that the last thing he saw before he died was the face of the American Soldier who was sending him there!

And you sir, I would like to thank you very much as you sit in Iraq protecting the freedom of everyone back here from any more atrocites such as 9/11. There has not been another attack thanks to our military and our allies. A very big thank you indeed!

We Will Never Forget

I thought the anniversary was yesterday because it was the 9th. Then I remembered that the Americans write the date backwards......
Seriously though, the attacks were something that was felt around the world and many heroes were made that day. For those still in Iraq or Afghanistan, stay safe.

I can still remember where I was that morning. I was at home sick from work. I was still in bed and my daughter (also home sick) came in and told me what was happening. I came down in time to see the second plane strike.

It was like something from a movie. I just could not put an emotion to it.

I had just graduated high school that year. Around 0745 i believe i turned on the tv to see this. I had no Idea what was going on. I had a plane ticket for sept. 13th 2001 to go from NY to Orlando FL where I was to study Digital Media at Full Sail University. Needless to say my flight was changed to the 17th. This day is still so vivid. On par to the day when my racing hero Dale Earnhardt Sr. Crashed and Died. Two totally different times, but both very memorable.

I'd like to thank everyone who has fought and donated their time for our beautiful country. Although we have a lot wrong in America, I believe that it is still a place worth fighting for! Go USA!
