Default NFL Opening Game

There I was, sitting in my recliner with a cold beverage and snacks in reach all ready for the opening game of the season.

The pre-game blab fest was winding down and then, IT happened. Passing in the background of the football talking heads were a collection of photographers lugging on their shoulders what appeared to be cannons (as in artillery) on a stick.

My eyes glanced over to my camera and long lens. A sudden feeling of inadequacy rushed through my system as a tear came to my eye. Yes, the evil monster called Lens Envy reared it's ugly head and attempted to suck any future enjoyment of the game out of my heart. I daubed my eyes as not to water down my beverage, and started talking to myself. "Oh, they just have a big budget! I bet the rag those hags work for fronts them the gear!" The image on the TV screen began to get greener and greener. The beverage tasted of an old penny. The snacks had lost their appeal. The wife looked at me and asked if I was feeling all right.

That was all it took to bring me back to reality. I was then determined not to let Lens Envy win. I told myself everything was going to be just fine. I reminded myself of the good images I capture with my meager gear. I reminded myself it is the person pushing the button that makes a great photograph, not the multi-thousand dollar gear. Sure, the gear helps, but it only does what you tell it to do. Feeling a bit better, the beverage tasted of nectar and the snacks began to find their way to my stomach. I resetteled myself and enjoyed the evening game and the feeling of contentment of what I can accomplish with what I have.

As a NC native, it's really hard to root for the local team. Lately, the Panthers stink so badly that I can smell them in Milwaukee, and the Redskins approval rating is about the same as Obama's. Thank goodness I moved to Wisconsin. I can enjoy football again.

As a Bears fan, I must say you guys looked great on offense and are pretty scary in general.
Hopefully someone (ie the Bears) can stop you on O because your vaunted defense (at least last night) should have you a bit afraid...
..granted, it was Breese who's no joke.
