Disgusting. I hope this is an isolated incident.

A "nature photographer" didn't even know enough about the species he was photographing to fake it accurately? If you're going to cheat, you have to be SMART. It's easier just to do things honestly.

As I recall, last year another nature photographer was busted for cheating too.. Can't remember the specifics, but it was discussed here, as the award he won was a huge deal.. I think it was a shot of an Iberian wolf jumping over a fence or something...

EDIT...found it...

I guess some people want to win so much that their ethics get compromised. Sad...digital has made it easier to cheat at getting great photographs.

I'd like to see these cheaters at least get punished with a public atomic wedgie. I'll be glad to administer the punishment.

Nice photograph & well executed. Interesting that this one was disqualified because the subject was tame vs a truly wild wolf. He went through a fair amount of work to set this up just right. But the photo at least is authentic unlike the Swedish photographer who used someone else's stock shot to create an award winning photo with PS.

Both are definitely bad for different reasons. But I find photographers who stoop so low as to use someone else's work to create an original is even more wrong. The Swedish guy should have to forfeit his award & apologize for his actions. Maybe he should also be barred from competing or showing his work...unless he can prove it's truly his & not a composite using other photographers' work.

LOL You got my vote! I think anyone who PSs multiple images to create something else is similar to art forgery. It's just bad form.

I feel bad for the photographers who finished 2nd in those competitions. They should have won, but got the door prize.

I guess the first one wasn't an isolated incident. I wonder how many of those other "wildlife" shots were staged. At least no one won with a shot of Bigfoot.
