In order to take pro-quality images, check this guy out.
http://www.eyeworksphotography.com/about.htm He was just profiled in Digital PhotoPro magazine in which it says that he just recently upgraded from a Canon Digital Rebel to a Nikon D90 with a kit lens. "An 18-55mm, I think," he said. That's all he uses. That and cheap "chicken warmer" lights ($7 Wal-Mart specials); those silver dish-reflector lights with clamps that people use to keep chicks warm. No multi-thousand dollar camera. No high-end glass. No multi-flash setup. Just one man, an inexpensive camera, an inexpensive kit lens, and a couple cheap light-bulb reflectors. And a bunch of impressive images.

A DSLR is nothing more than a device capable of producing a certain quality of image and enables the capturing of shallow depth of field. It doesn't make photographs, that's the photographer's job.
Oh and yes, a whoooole ton of post processing on those photos. That being said, you can't take a photo with the shallow of field of a FF body with an F/1.8 lens with a compact... Gear plays a vital role in allowing the photographer to achieve certain aesthetics. Last edited by nickbedford; 09-05-2011 at 11:53 PM. |

He still needs a good composition... I'm sorry the way you state the above, sounds disdainful to me - perhaps the internet and lack of voice - but really... He's still making great images..

Most agreed, the guy is surely doing ALOT of things right. Without a pretty damn good image to begin with all that Photoshop processing wouldn't mean squat. It looks to me like he's got the eye and the processing skills for some serious high fashion photography.

anyone can take a picture of a beautiful model using any camera and it will look good. its the model not the camera.

yeah you're right, there is posing and correct composition and lighting. but it still doesn't look as good as a 50mm f/1.4 or 85mm f/1.4 there is no shallow depth of field so it just looks like a snapshot that has been made to look good in post production.
