LOL!!! I'm a complete beginner, amateur, novice, tinkerer... etc. etc. and at my current level of inexperience I wouldn't dream of accepting an actual job as a photographer.... that goes double for even thinking I could take photos of such an important event as a wedding.....

However.....

Even I could take better photos than that guy

Possibly.
However, you get what you pay for. can you honestly think that a 600pound photographer on a cruise is really what you want?

When will people learn that the photographer (ie the lasting memories!) should be a priority and not an afterthought in their wedding planning?

Still, I do feel a bit bad. Just a bit.

So sad! Also proof that just because you have a camera that's not a point & shoot doesn't mean you can take good photos.

Those were truly awful! Was the ship on such rough seas it was going to capsize? I just hope this guy sticks with his day job...unless he's not very good at that either. In that case, maybe he could work as the ship's janitor....far away from a camera.

I can do a lot better than that with just a P&S! But I'd need a stable deck to do it. No dice if the sea is rough & tossing the ship about.

Ah c'mon.. I was at a wedding 3 weeks ago, and took 1200 photos, spray and pray stylee, it was the first wedding I'd been to since my own 5 years ago, and I didn't want to miss anything.. Sure, some of them looked like this, some were out of focus, when I pressed the button by accident, or when I forgot to put the flash on, but some were lovely and the bride is using one as her facebook profile photo Are these seriously the best he had, did he just not take many photos? Rocking boat would just make me keep my finger on the button more..

Or is the Mail just picking on some poor guy who was out of his depth, pick the worst of the worse, the throwways that should never have made daylight, just to make a story??

Surely not, a Tabloid exagerrating the truth and destroying someones life just to make a story.. Never happens.. Nor does mobile phone hacking.

I could take better shots while using a bounce wall about 270ex/ii, in case anyone has ever had the thought to do this.
