Reminds me of the time I made the error of coming back to my long exposure star trails, in near total dark, using a torch.

Ha ha ha! I was taking heaps of photos at a sports competition at the weekend & as I only had the one battery I'd turn the camera off when I wasn't shooting. Then forget to turn it back on again & wonder why it wouldn't work!

lol, I think we've all done that. I was on top of a mountain camping (needed a sunrise photo) when I hard all kinds of noise. All of a sudden a moose walks right into my campsite! Grabbed my camera and started shooting! But, I couldn't see anything. Well, stupid me, had my camera on the picnic table and had put the lens cap on to keep the fire soot off the lens

I think I've forgotten to turn my camera on more times than I forgot to take the lens cap off!

yeah same here! i tend to just turn off the preview screen so that it only shows the photo i took if i hit the preview button. saves a ton of battery.
