Why does someone always spoil the last few days of summer by mentioning Christmas??

My little one had her 5th birthday party on Sat. Knowing the next big event after her birthday is Christmas, she sat singing carols all afternoon!

Good tidings we bring - la la la la la

Back home (especially some decades ago), Christmas is mentioned often starting the last days of August. Come the "ber" months and you see everyone getting ready for it. The holidays last even past the "three kings" (Jan 6th).

Here where I stay, I only get to see Christmas on Dec. 25th. None earlier, none later... but we got tons of holidays. Come Saturday next week and I'll be enjoying another 4 days off. Yay!

In my area, Christmas is a big thing pretty much all year. The worst is Walmart, who has Christmas decorations up from August to May.

Only about 3 weeks to go of the winter term over here. Then two weeks holidays and the Rugby World Cup. Hoping to go watch England vs Argentina on Saturday night.
Signs of spring here now after a cold winter, looking forward to summer

I was always so sad when my three boys went back to school in September. How I loved spending time with them in the summer. No schedules. They could stay up later and we could have fun together. I still feel kind of sad when I see school buses in September - and my boys are all in their 30s!
