I'm looking for a battery powered unit that will allow me to backup SD cards (and CF cards) in the field without a computer. I've been considering things like the Vosonic and Hyperdrive machines, but they're rather expensive.
I do a lot of travelling, and am often concerned that if someone steals my camera while I'm otherwise engaged, then the insurance will pay out, but I will lose all the photos I've taken to that point. I have an iPad, but that's not really what I want.. I'm not interested in viewing the photos, just making sure there's a second copy separated from my camera gear. Anyone got any ideas?

does your camera have two SD slots? I know the Nikon D7000 does. not sure what you use, but you can do it right in camera.
![]() otherwise there is always the good ol' Amazon.com: Epson P-5000 80GB Multimedia Storage Drive, Viewer, and Audio-Video Player w/ 4-Inch LCD: Camera & Photo they use to sell them on B&H but i guess they don't anymore. Found it on Amazon.

What about using an Android, iphone, or ipad with one of those eye-fi wireless cards?
Marry Your Camera to Your Mobile With This Wireless SD Card | Product Reviews | Wired.com If you could send them to the device and then upload them to a remote server they'd really be safe. Wouldn't recommend it if you're not in a wi-fi hotspot and don't have an unlimited data plan, though.
