Default SD Card Backup

I'm looking for a battery powered unit that will allow me to backup SD cards (and CF cards) in the field without a computer. I've been considering things like the Vosonic and Hyperdrive machines, but they're rather expensive.

I do a lot of travelling, and am often concerned that if someone steals my camera while I'm otherwise engaged, then the insurance will pay out, but I will lose all the photos I've taken to that point.

I have an iPad, but that's not really what I want.. I'm not interested in viewing the photos, just making sure there's a second copy separated from my camera gear.

Anyone got any ideas?

There are other variations of the above product.
It was that thread that started me thinking.. Hence looking at the Hyperdrive and Vosonic.

Thanks, I didn't know about Nextodi.

does your camera have two SD slots? I know the Nikon D7000 does. not sure what you use, but you can do it right in camera.

otherwise there is always the good ol' Amazon.com: Epson P-5000 80GB Multimedia Storage Drive, Viewer, and Audio-Video Player w/ 4-Inch LCD: Camera & Photo

they use to sell them on B&H but i guess they don't anymore. Found it on Amazon.

Hyperdrive user here. Saved my butt one time. Nice to feel secure.

they are this really funny type of film that you develop on your computer and can then re-use it over and over again -_^

What about using an Android, iphone, or ipad with one of those eye-fi wireless cards?

If you could send them to the device and then upload them to a remote server they'd really be safe. Wouldn't recommend it if you're not in a wi-fi hotspot and don't have an unlimited data plan, though.

lol. reliable. you just wait till one of those things crash. They do crash. Annoying when it happens too.
