Exclamation Too Critical

Hi Folks,

I really enjoy taking photos and carry my 400D with me on pretty much all family trips and outings. Here's the problem. I'm too critical of my own shots that I lose the reason why I took it in the first place.

How many of you out there are also too critical that you pass over a photo which is actually dam good?

Cheers,

The Mighty2006

Just get better.

Lol just kidding.

I'm critical in a practical way, but it also depends on the shoot I'm doing. I like to only show the work I'm proud of, which I'd say most people are. It also depends on self confidence and frankly, skill at creating photographs. Anyone can take 100 photos without the knowledge to make sure 90% of those are at least passable and be critical to the point of not showing any. If I'm doing a promotional shoot, you typically end up using about 5% of the captured photos, sometimes less. You might take 20 shots in 5 different set ups and use 1 out of each.

I think a lot people are too critical of themselves and don't even use/show any photos so they never improve.

Each to their own.

I'm overly critical.. But it doesn't stop me taking photos, I just accept that there's a difference between snapshots and "photographs", and get on with Taking snapshots.

I'm very critical of photos for other people, but taking photos for myself on vacation and stuff like that I just accept it for what it is.

YEP!!! Exactly. You have to accept the difference between snapshots and planned photography. You can't plan and control every shot or you might just miss the shot altogether. But that doesn't mean the photo is any less important.
