Default What should I shoot in the Vegas Area?

I'm going to be in Las Vegas the middle of the month for a few days and was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions of things I should try to go see in the general area and capture on my camera. Plan to go out to Hoover Dam. What else?

Zion National Park is fantastic and about 3.5 hours driving East if you have the time.

Besides Las Vegas itself, how about the Valley of fire?

Never been to vegas myself but to be different maybe find things that aren't on "The Strip" like vegas behind the lights.

I haven't been there, but there is a closer option called Red Rock Canyon.

If you are going to go to Hoover Dam, you could extend your journey and go on to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Another good place may be Death Valley but we have never been and I'm not sure of photographic opportunities.

I know you are looking beyond the city but I would definitely recommend the Bellagio fountains at night for some stunning photos.

LoL.. I love how these posts don't actually mention LV at all..

Well the obvious choice is the strip. It's definitely a night time visit.

Apart from that, the central gambling areas are interesting but over photographed, then there's the shows, and if they allow it, inside the casinos.. But if I were you, I'd head out of town a little way and see if you can find some old run down gambling joint\truckstop to make some timeless B&W photographs.
