Default Waiting on Gear....

Getting some new modifiers tomorrow, and I am like a kid at Christmas.... funny I don't usually get that way, but I am getting an almost 6' octobox (great deal) and I am just dying to try it out.

Sweet. I have a 5' Octa (Photoflex) and I totally dig it. besides using it outside, I only have one room that has a high enough ceiling to get it up and angled...ah to have an old Victorian house with 10' ceilings!
post some pics when you get it hooked up.

I hear ya on that one.... Little concerned about using a 5'7" octabox in my dinky studio.

I's getting:
The octabox
Another 48" softbox
8"x24" strip box for hairlight
couple more strobes
couple more 10' air ride stands....
Couple little knick knacks....

I'm looking forward to the octabox & strip box the most....

How do you find that big beast outdoors?

As long as its not windy it's not bad. Its more stable in the wind than a umbrella. I still weigh it down pretty good to be safe. It has reversible interior panels gold or silver (or you can take them out and it's white.)

So next on my list are a couple of strip boxes, preferably with a lip so I can put in a grid. I'd like something in the range of 12x50 or thereabouts for rim lighting and other applications.

So where's the great deal coming from? (like I need to spend more $$ right now)

a shot of the Octa running off a vagabond mini late afternoon...my attempt at pushing the ambient down to look like evening/night...

Cool. Looks like I will have some fun. The deal I am getting is $60 for 67" box including speed ring.

I only took about 5, because I have been working since 3 this morning and to be honest it was almost too much like work. I know the lights need some adjustment, but I just wanted to test it out. I really like how little specular highlights I get and the nice wrap from that almost 6' box. If I tweaked the lighting and lined up the background light and hair light properly etc, I think I will get some nice images out of this setup.
