Default basball railing regulations

can you believe this. Now they are saying the baseball stadiums are unsafe. Thats funny that now after 100 years all of a sudden they are unsafe. How about don't lean over the railing. I think it's common sense. Its just a baseball, Is it really worth risking your life to catch a baseball? I guess thats up to you to decide.

For me this is crazy. People should be responsible for their own actions and not blame others for their lack of common sense. Being in the military, im sure some of you who are in or have been in will agree. Most of the stupid rules that we have to obey are because of people who don't know how to use common sense. For example, do you really need the ARMY to tell you to wear gloves when it is below 32 degrees out... Come on people give me a break!

Got stopped on the way into our local rugby game on Saturday night by a security guy. My son was carrying a flag for our team, its on a stick about a metre long. The guy wanted to check that it was not more than 1.2 metres long as sticks that long are not allowed. He decided it was about 1m, told someone over his radio that and allowed us to carry on. The rule was new to me so I queried what was wrong & got told about the 1.2 m rule. I asked him what I could possibly do with a stick that was 1.2m long that I couldn't do with one a metre long? I don't think he understood the question and I decided not to push my luck.
But 1.2m long sticks? Seriously???

Everything now is "safety safety safety" and the more "safe" the world gets the dumber everyone is because nobody gets the chance to make mistakes any more.

I'm only 26 but even I remember the value of a good lesson learned on the unsafe playgrounds - if the merry go round spins too fast - don't let go of the bars. It only took one stupid kid and a couple of broken teeth for every kid in school to figure that one out.

You see a guy fall out of the stands on tv once, you know that maybe catching that ball isn't worth a spinal injury.

So true. I used to love that merry go round in the playground. They've taken it out since I was a kid, though. The teeter totter, too. No wonder kids these days prefer to spend their time watching TV and playing video games. The real world is "too dangerous" nowadays, and no where near as fun as the virtual world.

I need to start wandering around downtown with an old fashioned picket sign that says "DOWN WITH GRAVITY"

Thanks, I think I have now found my true calling in life

When my son was growing up, my ex-wife would not let him do things because they were "unsafe". I let him experience life, and how failure is such a wonderful teacher.

I see what you did there...

Also, I agree with OP here. This is insane. When I was in elementary school, the playground 'floor' was covered in wood chips. So what did we decide was the most fun thing to do? Jump off the top of the highest part of the playground...just for kicks. It was probably about 6' or so...IIRC, but onto splinters waiting to happen.

But you're right...common sense doesn't exist in the new generation. I like the warning labels too...like on a hair dryer, there's a label that says "Do no attempt to use while sleeping." I mean...really? Who's house had to burn down to get that printed? Pretty soon the world is going to end up like that movie 'Idiocracy'.

People actually go to baseball games? I think it's unsafe because the sport is so incredibly boring to watch. I'm pretty sure I'd jump given the chance.
