Default EXIF Data?

Hi first of all if this is in the wrong place sorry about that, I just joined today. Anyways the competitions look really cool, but what is EXIF data? Again sorry I just got a camera a few days ago. And also how do I get it? Thanks.

Welcome to DPS

EXIF exposure data is the info saved with the picture. Lightroom 3 and all versions of photoshop that I know of can read this data.

EXIF would read something like so:

1/60 sec
f8.0
ISO 100
__________________
Heavily medicated for your protection
Flickriver

Info on the pic. Mostly exposure and technical (size, camera make, lens, etc.) You can find it in just about any editing program, or in windows explorer through properties>details

Alright thanks. Do you know if GIMP can read it and how I can see the information if it can? This is the only program I have.

The Gimp can display the EXIF with the EXIF Viewer plugin.
