Who is preparing? I'm way the heck up in CT so we're not going to be hit quite as hard as a lot of you folks down south, but we've got plenty of drinking water stowed (we have a well and if we lose power, we have no water) and my husband got gas for the generator tonight. I'm so NOT looking forward to this, and I'm hoping and praying that those who are hit hard don't see too much damage.
ETA: My biggest worry is at least gone...we used to have a HUGE oak tree right next to our house. Half of it fell, missing our house by mere inches, last year. On a sunny, blue-sky, not-even-a-breeze kind of day. We obviously had the rest of it taken down. It took out my daughter's swingset/playhouse and I thank God she wasn't in it at the time. A few more very large, old trees around us worry me, though, one in particular that's been losing branches during every strong storm. One is close enough to do major damage if it falls our way.

We are inland from Wilmington about 200mi, but I am still kind of freaking out. I do not like storms of any kind. It's has been downgraded to a Cat 2 now, but it's still nothing to balk about. It's still huge! I am still reeling from when Hugo came through 20 years ago. lol!

I'm a little pissed. The weather channel teased us for days saying it was going to hit Florida, then Georgia, then Charleston or Myrtle Beach. I was stoked about Myrtle - I have family there (not right on the ocean - a mile back) and could have gone for a front row seat. Even if it went in around Charleston it would have made it far enough north to make working in it fun. Storms (be it snow, tropical storms, etc.) are a lot like Marshal Law - we get to do stuff at work we normally don't. A lot of rules go out the window. I like working in storms. I went through Hugo in 1989 when the eye went right over my house in Camden. Scary as hell, then no power for a week, and no water for four days. It was an adventure. But the house wasnt damaged, which was nice.
