Default Tornado watch- eeep!

Southern Ontario was issued a tornado watch, and from the looks of this storm, it doesn't seem to improbable
Time to hold up the fort!

On another note, I`d really love to take some pictures of this lightning, but no way in hell am I going out there! Anybody have any tips on photographing through windows, or capturing lightning?

As a beginner all I can offer is ..... running a little Windex and some paper towels over the inside and outside of the window(s) you will shoot from should be the first thing on the "TO-DO" list

I just wrote up a bit on lightning photography, and one of the points I covered was the type of storm to look for. The one you're looking at is part of a front, and it's going to kick up winds and probably move pretty rapidly, too. All-in-all, you might be better off waiting for another opportunity.

You could always try photographing from inside, but go ahead and incorporate the window or something -- like, don't try to make it look like you're taking a picture from outside, but try to catch the mood of being inside on a stormy night. Maybe even get raindrops on the window with lightning outside, or something like that?

Is it unusual? I pay attention to tornado warnings, but watches ... eh.

When I hear tornado anything I am out the door cam in one hand and car keys in the other headed for the crest of the hill for a better vantage point.

It is in my area! The last tornado was some 10 years ago.
And Environment Canada just came out saying tornadoes are 'imminent;

It got upgraded to a warning at 9:30, but was basically gone by 10. My girlfriend is in Mississauga and was saying it was a pretty show, what with the rain and wind and lightning/thunder but nothing came of it.

There was a tornado (an F3, fairly strong) in Goderich a few days ago. That's rare, especially that strong. Southern Ontario gets a few a year, but they're almost never anything more than weak funnels.

It's coming over the lake toward us right now, doesn't look substantial on radar. :shrug:

My sister in Guelph said she spent the night sitting on her porch watching the lightning.
I'm not going to lie, I was kind of disappointed there were no tornadoes
