Default What a disappointment

Nikon build up all the fuss over their 24th August announcement.. And what do we get?? Not one single new DSLR..

Just a bunch of point and shoot cameras.. What a let down.

The announcement: Nikon Coolpix P7100, AW100, S1200pj, S8200, S6200, S4150, S6150, S100 | Nikon Rumors & News

Well I guess it'd be nice to see if they were bringing out a replacement for the D300s and D700, but it wouldn't matter to me as (a) I really like my D7000 and (b) I couldn't afford to replace it now even if I wanted to. For me, replacing my old push/pull 80-200D with the latest 70-200mm VRII would take priority.

According to Nikon Rumors there will be more announcements over the next few weeks. I agree it is a bit of an anticlimax, though.

No.. I'll keep my D7000.. I'm just a gadget freak and wanted to see where Nikon was taking their flagship product lines.. Was hoping there was a D4 and D800 in the bag..

Seems doubtful to me that Nikon will announce their new P&S first with such pomp and circumstance, then wait and say "Oh by the way here's the new DSLR's you've been waiting for..".. I guess they'll be coming in the spring.. I think the announcement will be for their mirrorless technologies.

I'm still waiting for an answer to Sony's A-900... If Nikon doesn't come up with a "D700x" pretty soon I think I'll have to become a 2 brand shooter.. )-:}

I feel the same way about Canon. I'm still waiting for my 5DMarkII replacement.

The image quality can't be beat, but the focusing system sucks. Luckily, there is a current rumor that the 5DIII will be announced in October.

I was told the 5DIII was going to become available this summer.. I think the Tsunami has cocked everything up for all the Japanese firms..
