Default I really got THE comment tonight.

I read all the forum messages about THE comment but thought they were all apocryphal. But Noooo.

I was showing a guy at work some shots from yesterday (he's an idiot anyway). He looks through the shots commenting on how nice they were and then it came out of his mouth

"That camera really does take good pictures".

After I made an unprintable comment, he said

"Well, it does."

After a couple more unprintable comments, he said

"What, you mean it's you?."

Geez.

Hemmigway's typewriter wrote great novels, and Hendix's Statocaster was the best one they ever made.

+1 lol!

As someone suggested, set the camera to manual and pass to your (idiotic) friend and tell him he'll have no excuses if he doesn't take a great shot.

If he does - say great camera isn't it?

My all time favorite was when a friend saw my pics from my lowly little XSi and said, "Wow, we have a D90 and our pictures aren't as good as yours. Should we switch to Canon?"

I should have offered to trade.

My own mother just did this to me the other day:
Mom--"Michelle I was looking through the pictures you took while we were at Lake Michigan and I can sure see the difference between this year and last year"

I'm thinking well that's cool, because I've taken several classes over the last year, attended 3 workshops, participated in each weekly assignment here, and have been successful in starting and building a nice little portrait biz, it's nice to see that she thinks my work is paying off and I've improved since last year.......

My mom continues with "that must be a great camera you have now"

LOL.....seriously mom

Lol, oh yes. EVERYONE that hears about that statement thinks "haha, photographer inside joke" and continues about their day.

Then it happens to THEM for the first time....

No, not inside joke, common complaint. lol

I get that so often! It really does bug me but I've started to just brush it off...It seems like everytime I show someone my photos I get the following in the same order:

"wow that's a great camera!"......"how much does it cost?"
