Default I survived

Had my daughters wedding yesterday, and although I feel like I got hit by a train it turned out pretty good.

I got about 800 pics in 3 hrs, will start editing them tonight.

Few things I learned-
~ even if I was a pro-photogh I would NEVER do weddings!
~ Getting all your camera equipment to the venue is good, but so is remembering your shoes so you don't end up having to wear flip-flops all night.
~ Never wear a skirt
~ Wear something that has pockets, even though my hubby was very helpful there were times I had several memory cards stuffed in my bra cause I had no where else to put them.
~ Trying to get 20 people posed in one photo SUCKS!
~ need a bat to knock out all the other fools with camera!

You know you're going to have to post some pics right?

As tough as wedding are, I'd do them as I view them as good money for a "one day" job (yes, I know there's all the post work, but I charge enough to make it worth it for me).
Yeah, shoes.. very very important.
I like skirts.. gives my boys some air.
As dorky as it makes me look, loooove my photo vest. Very helpful. I can fit whole lenses in the pockets
Thank goodness for digital as those large groups can be saved by taking multiple shots and cut&paste faces from one to another.
I don't need a bat.. just step in front of them. They'll move to get a better shot then you have the space. Also, I always tell the b&g that I'm the photographer and that to let anyone who complains I'm paid to be there.

Well done surviving, gives you respect for those that do it for a living huh? (thankfully that's not me)

Ambrosia,

I am surprised you would be the photographer at your daughter's wedding. It is a stressful enough day without adding taking good shots. As the mother of the bride, I would hope you had a chance to bask in the moment and enjoy the ceremony. Let's see a few when you get them done!

Fuzzy- I'm glad I'm not the only one who wears skirts. How hard is it to find a skirt to match your Luchador masks.

I was only the photographer cause it was me or nothing,My daughter has no patience for anything and this was all planned in the last 6 wks or so. I was also the caterer, thank God the grooms mom and friend handled all the decorating and stuff. As it is I am about slap crazy at this point. But they enjoyed it all and while my pics will be far from professional, my daughter will love them and that is what matters.

As you said, the daughter will enjoy them. Hmm..plan and have a wedding in 6 weeks. Did the daughter learn the lack of patience from someone?

Not as hard as you'd think. Plus I have lots of masks, so i can match them to the skirt if needed!

Yep, in the end, if they like/love them, that's all that matters. And it's not as if beggars can be choosers, right?

I realized after I got home last night that everyone was so adamant about having their picture with the bride and groom that I got very few pics of just them or of them individually so I am thinking that maybe for christmas I will give them a gift certificate for a Pro to do some pics of them together.

The funniest part of it all was right in the middle of the preacher performing the ceremony my 2 yr old granddaughter pulls on son in law and says "Daddy what we doing? we getting married?" the whole place busted out laughing. She also butted her way right into their 'first dance'. It was very cute.

Yes her father. The original plan was they were going to get married in January of next year, of course at the point that they decided this it would have been 6 mths, not much better than 6wks but some. They had planned on trying to have another child next year. As of yesterday, the day they got married she was 11 weeks prego with twins, hence the bump up of the wedding. They aren't very good at planning things apparently!
