Default Interpolating frames in premere / after effects.

Yes I know this is not a video forum, but I'm too lazy to go and join one. Here it goes.

My video camera takes crap video, in a desperate attempt to get better footage, I have been using my 50D and EOS movie record. The prob is that it only captures 18fps, but my final video is 24fps. If you play 18fps like that you will get choppy movement.

So far I have only been taking video of landscapes and the like. Therefor I can just pan slower and speed up the footage in post.( to get non-choppy video )

Now i want to do birds and people. I have premere and after effects. (friend at Adobe) google turned up nothing. What I want to know is if there is a way to interpolate the frames in-between what eos movie Rec takes.

Sry for the long, rambling, off-topic post.

Thanx

You can, but it'll still be choppy. Have you double-checked your settings?

Edit: wait, 50D?

Gotcha, I was thinking it was one of the newer models that had video from the factory.

Sadly, I don't think you're going to get a solution you'll be happy with.

i use after effects for most of my video editing. this is what I do to simulate a higher frame rate:

copy and paste your video. set the top layer to 50% opacity and stagger it to the right by one frame. This will simulate a 36fps video from a 18fps video. Try it and you will see what I mean. I do it when playing 30fps video in 1/4 speed slow motion.

Why? If you have production premium, then you have an NLE (Premiere). AE really isn't optimized for editing.

I like to do custom transitions and the post production I do on video is easier to do in AE. I use Premiere if i just need to do simple transitions or cuts. But I get pretty creative with my transitions when Im doing music videos, and they have to be precise!

You do realize you can send stuff back and forth between the two, right? AE makes a terrible editor.
