Default tripod suggestions

the tripod i used was bundled with the old hi8 video camera i bought many moons ago. it served its purpose. its starting to break down and i'm interested in getting a new one.

i would like suggestions on good tripods. perhaps some pics of your tripod?

tia,
rotty

Tripod Legs -
Manfrotto 190XProB
3Leggedthing X1Brian

Tripod Heads -
Manfrotto 498RC2
Manfrotto 322RC2

I'm about to sell the Manfrotto legs and the 322RC2. They're too heavy for me to take with me hiking.. Don't know if you'd be interested?

Manfrotto! I just bought a used 3011BN with a 3437 head about a week or two ago for $130 off Craig's list. Its about 5lbs w/o a camera but very sturdy. I just got back from hiking about 4 miles with it today. It wasn't too bad to carry around. This is the first 'decent' tripod I've had and I love it! All I need now is to save up for carbon fiber legs, ha ha. Whatever you end up getting, I'd recommend a quick release head. I never had one before now, boy, what a difference! (of course they all probably come that way now)

I've had my Induro AKB1 for about a year now and I absolutely love this tripod!

I have an Induro AB2/AT213 tripod with the Induro AB2/BH@ ballhead. I love it. It has two levels on it: one on the top of the tripod & the other on the ballhead. It also came with a nice carrying case, & I believe it was just under $200.00. I've had it since Nov 2008. The only downside is that it's rather long...2 feet long before the head or legs get extended. But I've never had an issue with its size or weight. Does the job nicely as well.

There are loads of tripod solutions. I used to use the cheap one and technically still do. The one bit of advice I can give is buy the best tripod your wallet will afford. Like a lens it will stick with you quite a while.

I will sit back and read this thread some more as I too am in the market.
