Default So...anyone upgrade to Lion yet?

Is it "earth shattering"? Any big difference in performance? I know for $29 you really can't go wrong but should that be my big reason to upgrade? I'm happy with Snow Leopard on my iMac. All the cool new trackpad gestures Lion can do are useless to me. I don't use Safari because I like Firefox better. I don't use Mail or iCal because I like Office for Mac 2011 better. AirDrop looks like a nice feature but its no deal maker. Eh....guess I'm answering my own question here.

What? You mean that Macs are less than perfect? I don't believe it.. What happened.. Did Microsoft buy Apple while I wasn't looking?

I upgraded with almost* zero trouble. Realized some performance improvements, gained a truckload of free disk space, and some other minor things that make me happy like resizing windows from any border. Reverse scrolling drove me up a wall at first, but now I love it. I do use Mail and iCal, and boy the improvements there were vast. Not sure how Office 2011 for Mac is, but I use Outlook on my work computer (PC). Mail now beats the shit out of Outlook in terms of user interface and use. I don't think Lion was ever meant to be earth shattering. It is just the first step in a more device-agnostic experience, IMO.

* I upgraded the day Lion came out and had to work through some minor annoyances like losing my external sound (reboot in safe mode followed by normal reboot was the fix) and waiting for Spotlight to rebuild its index. But now I have it installed, tweaked the way I want it, and don't have to mess with it again.

My Macbook is only a 32-bit Intel, so I can't install it.

Question is.. Which version of Outlook do you use at work? having seen iMail on Snow Leopard next to Outlook 2011, I feel that Outlook wins..

The only real issues with Macs that I have is cost and adaptability.. They're good, but not that good, and they're really not that adaptable, and they're overpowered for the general office environment..

However, in the right environment, they're a shining example of what Micro$haft should have created over the years.

I'm running Lion.
Biggest issue I had was getting it to install "fully" because I have a 2TB mirrored raid setup in my MacBook Pro.
A lot of things to like, but nothing "necessary" for me.
I also use CAC for work access and Lion is "broken" in that respect...the fix is easy.
With the mirroring everything is a bit slower and I don't think I got the speed improvements others note.
I'm pretty sure my wireless remains connected while in screen saver, but not sure since I don't let mine go to screen saver usually.

My wireless connection drops out...and a google search shows I am not alone! There are some querky fixes people have wrote about but I really only need to turn wireless off then on and i'm good to go. I have also read posts were people who have microsoft office for mac are not able to run their software...that is not the case for me I have office for mac2011 and it runs fine. Really except for the wireless thing the upgrade has been no big deal.

This is why I'm a PC. I thought Mac's were idiot proof.

I mean, how do you update the hardware in a Mac? Can you even do that on a Mac? Is it even possible to build a Mac? I like having the ability to do or change whatever I want in my computer. It's not rocket science. Computers are a lot like cars. As long as you can identify the parts, know what they do, and how to hook them up properly, along with a few tools and knowledge, then your pretty set.

I know your talking about operating systems,...but Windows is not that bad. You just have to know how to use it. Yes, there is more maintenance to Windows, but its like owning a muscle car. It's a lil more upkeep, but the power it puts out is greater.
