Hello everyone,
It just occurred to me that every time I go out anywhere with my camera, I am listening to my MP3 player. It usually inspires me to shoot in many different ways and to take a moment and relax. I usually listen to Wye Oak or Alanis Morissette while shooting (and everything in between, haha!). Does anyone else do this, and if so, what music do you listen to?

I'm also into Adele, she has a wonderful voice. Reminded me a little of Amy Winehouse, vocally.
Totally understandable about the 'communication' thing, haha. I guess I should have probably specified landscapes/cityscapes in the first post!

I shoot landscapes mainly, and don't usually listen to anything except the birds and bees and the occasional cow..
I don't really listen to music much as I find it distracting.. I tend to listen to the spoken word instead, and like comedy, so often listen to podcasts., The most recent one I've started listening to is the Dave Gorman show.. When I do have time for music, it's usually either some old James album, Leftfield or Manu Chao.

I also find music distracting, even while editing. But, to answer the question, I guess many earbuds are full of bacteria. lol

I also don't listen to music when I'm out shooting. When I do my "ghetto studio" shots, I'll keep the laptop in my "studio" with me, and put the entire music library on random, but it's a much more controlled environment, and I'm not trying to track down wildlife
![]() As for what's "random" ... anything from Mozart & Gershwin to Metallica, Nirvana, Adele, Melody Gardot, Allison Krauss, Beastie Boys, Daughtry, etc.

I don't listen to music while shooting. However, I'm always listening to something in the car or in the house.
It could be anything. Motorhead, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac-old and new, Hawkwind, Allman Brothers Band, Armored Saint, Saxon, Rush, Frank Zappa, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Jim Carroll Band, the list goes on and on and on.

When I'm out shooting, I am tuned into my environment (no music other than the sounds of nature). When I'm editing I listen to Pandora. Right now, it's Celtic music which is mostly instrumental with the occasional vocal. I often forget how long I'm sitting at my desk when Celtic music is playing. But I also listen to classic rock from the 60s & 70s too. Just depends on my mood at the time.

I pretty much have music playing at all times, especially when I'm out shooting. Gets me into a mood and a groove and then I can just wander around and shoot without any outside distractions.
When I'm in a relaxed kind of mood I've been listening to Baroness which is also excellent driving music and World Inferno Friendship Society which is fun happy music. When I'm in a not so chill mood there's A Wilhelm Scream which is super awesome techy punk or Zeke which is just hyper speed awesomeness.

Wow, I expected this to be a common thing, haha. Turns out not many people really listen while shooting!
Thanks for all of the responses though, keep them coming!
