How do you store your main image file

Okay, I trying to sort out a whole new system for storing and sorting my images. I'm trying to sort out the best type of file to store my main image after saving the camera raw adjustments image as a dng file - for example after you've completed post processing the dng file what's the best format to save it preserving the highest quality as it can't be saved as a dng after photoshop processing?

And do you save with all layers unmerged/unflattened?

The RAW file, a RAW processed jpeg, and a final tiff and jpeg.

I use Lightroom so I do not need to save revisions of any picture. They are all saved with the catalog.

Other wise I etch them in a rock with a stick.

Ditto (Except I don't do etching either.) Lightroom is a lot easier to maintain your files.

I still haven't got my head around Lightroom, I'm only just starting to get the hang of CS5 - sheesh!

External HD and copy to DVD.

I shoot in RAW, convert to DNG on import with Lightroom, then when I save in photoshop after editing, it automatically saves as a 16-bit TIFF file for the highest quality. If you are concerned about space, save it as an 8-bit.

Thanks Jim, but I'm after image file types for preserving the highest quality processed images- There's a lot of different opinions and advice to sort through out there - dng, png, tiff, psd etc.

Aperture 3 does that as well.
