Default Beginner Beginning

Hi Guys,

I tried a while ago to start photography with a friends camera, and used this forum a couple of times for help, but I consequently gave up, I think a combination of impatience and the camera being too advanced made me do it.

Anyways long story short, I've bought a Lumix G2 and I am going to start having lessons and take things as they come, and endeavour to be a decent photographer.

My question is, with the 14-42mm kit lens, are there any decent shots you can get other than landscape and general shots? The aperture doesn't go particularly low and I don't understand shutter speeds or ISO.

Thanks in advance

Garth

Ok.. Well first thing I'd suggest is be patient.. Your camera is more than capable of giving you some half decent portraits, landscapes, whatever, you just need to have a bit of patience, from what you've written, at this stage in your learning, there's no benifit to having a more complicated camera (I've a half decent DSLR, but I still revert to my Point and Shoot occasionally.)

Take your classes, learn about composition, ISO, speed, aperture etc, and practice.. Eventually you might decide that the camera is limiting you, but it's certainly not going to be at the moment.. You've got a lot to learn, and there's a lot to enjoy about photography.. Stick with it.
