Has anyone ever bought and cameras off of ebay and did you have good results? I am looking for a Canon 50D and saw one on ebay. But how does one know for sure if the products is what it says without losing ones money?
Thanks for any info.

I've purchased most of my gear through Ebay and I have never had a problem - but you must be careful. Be sure to check their ratings particularly as sellers. I don't deal with anyone with low ratings or have only had a few transactions.

No. But how about refurbished? IMHO, if you want to get it used, get it local.

I love shopping on eBay for bodies and lenses. I rarely buy from people and I purchased my cameras from stores.
The first, a Sony Alpha 300 was an open box (never sold, just opened the box at the store) and I saved a couple hundred. Same experience with my Sony Alpha 550. eBay is definitely an option. |

Most of the lenses I have bought on eBay were junk. As for bodies I dont know because I have not bought one there.

I would avoid FleaBay and stick with Craigslist. When you buy there you typically meet the person and can have your hands on the item and test it out before you hand over your money. I have bought lots of gear that way and have never had an issue.

I've bought a number of lenses off the local version of Fleabay.. The latest was a Nikon AF-S 24-70mm F/2.8G ED that was selling for about $800 less than shop price.. It was brand new and even came with a full Nikon guarantee..
![]() Check the feedback of the seller, and ask the seller questions, like "Why are you selling it?" "Are there any problems with it?" etc. You might even want to ask for a recent raw image file taken by the camera, so you can see the quality of the photos it takes.

I bought a D300 and a Nikon 300mm f/4 off of ebay, both were in excellant condition. The D300 came with the box and everything that came with it new plus two batteries and a charger. Everything looked brand new, Had less than 7000 actuations. Couldn't have been happier with the transactions.
