Default D40 Nikon or D7000

I have a Nikon D40. I want a Nikon D7000. I don't know to much about it though. I take pictures of landscape, nature, and cars. Will a D7000 do better with all of my interest? Will I be able to use the same lens as the D40?

This should tell the tell...and yes, your lenses will work fine on a D7000. The question is, will the pictures be better??..probably. But the added features of the newer D7000 makes it a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. See the facts here:
Nikon D40 vs D7000

D40 = way old technology. D7000 = way new technology. there really is no comparison. If you have the cash to do the upgrade, you should be at the store picking up the new camera hours ago!

I had a D5000 before upgrading to the D7000. The D5000 is a great camera, but my D7000 pics suddenly have people commenting, "Wow! What kind of camera do you have? Your pics are so clear and they look professional." The D7000 does make a difference. If you have the option to upgrade from the D40, by all means, do it.

I thought that would be the price. I go on vacations a lot and I want to start to do underwater photography. How much would the housing cost for that?

More than the body

Underwater Housing for Nikon D7000 DSLR Camera - Looks like $1500 then you have to pay more for lens ports on it.

Unless you got with an EWA-marine bag. It is a little awkward to use at first, but you get used to it. The results are great in the pool, I have been using it all summer. Cheap too, less than $400.
