There is no organized agreed upon photography trends. You'll have to find somewhere that displays photos publicly from people all over the world. Then you'll have to view them and look for a trend.
Or you can just shoot how you want, edit how you want and be happy that you are doing your own thing instead of trying to follow others.

Beyond the obvious, I think digital has made photography more accessible for people. I see people using their phones to capture images on a regular basis. So maybe that's the current trend. As far as styles, I think anything goes.

A big thing i've been seeing slot of recently is sun flare and over exposure by shooting into the sun, as well as adding light leaks and stuff. Personally I'm not a fan and accredit the fad to a bunch of lousy hipsters, though I do admit i've seen some pretty nice ones.
As for browsing, I think finding a good flickr group with lots of good daily submissions and browsing through there is a smart thing to do. I personally browse several portrait, teen and the alien bees group.
