Default Sadies Last photo shoot

I'm so bummed. Some of you may remember a photo shoot I had a couple of years ago with a wolf named Sadie. Well, her owner called me last night and wants me to do a photo shoot with her today. It will be her last, ever.
Sadie is 13 years old and not doing well. The vet says she is in a lot of pain and suffering. She will be put down tomorrow so her owner wants final photos of her and him.
Wow, tough one. I was literally bawling on the phone with him last night and to be honest, not sure how I'm gonna pull this off today.
I know how important it is to Donnie, they have been together her entire life. How bittersweet for them both.

{Hugs} I know what it feels like. When we had our cat Buster put to sleep both my children took a photo diary of "Buster's Last Day" on their DSi's and it is so wonderful to see the photos from a child's perspective. Chloe even edited her's and surrounded him in hearts and flowers. I'll always treasure those photo even though they are really grainy and not so good quality.

I'm sure you'll do an excellent job and will capture Sadie just how her owner would like to remember her.

Yes it is bittersweet. More hugs your way.

Good luck with the photoshoot, I hope it goes well. I don't envy you. It's likely to get emotional for both you & the owner. Take tissues, that's what I'd do.

Thats one important shoot, I'm sure you'll pull it off. I guess it won't be easy, but think of the service you are doing him and that should help.

I stayed up far better than I had thought I would. Got some truly awesome shots of her and her "daddy"
One time I almost broke down but stayed strong by talking about anything I could think of . I'll post some of them when I get done. Right now I have to get packed and heading to Denver for a photo shoot. Ugh 200 mile one way trip

End of Life sessions are both wonderful and terrible at the same time. I've done more than I care to remember and I never manage to "keep it together."

That is so sad to hear. I am glad you were able to get through it though. This may sound cynical, but I always seem to have a harder time dealing with some of the stuff animals go through than I do humans. I couldn't do what you did without breaking down.

Nothing cynical about it. Humans suck, and animals are amoral and thus have to be innocent and undeserving of all the crap that happens to them.
