as a dsiplay it should have been cheaper than B&H regardless if it was on display 1 day or 1 month, disply =used as least in my book, return it for a full refund and do more research..

The stifness will be more of a hassle than a good thing. Especially when focusing manually. If you are looking for a 300 mm zoom have you considered the nikon 55-300 4.5-5.6 vr ? I don't know anything about this lens personally, but the price may be comparable.
