Default Public Service Announcement

On Sunday, my dear friend passed away from complications related to her treatments for breast cancer. She left behind a husband, two young children and many others who loved and adored her including myself. She was 42 years old.
So ladies, please please please, do your monthly self exams. Get your mammograms. And gents, please encourage the ladies in your life to take care of these things.
If you can, get involved with one of the walks that will happen in October.

Here is a photo from the last time that I had the pleasure of visiting with my friend in person.
I am not posting this for sympathy.....just for awareness!

So sorry to hear of your friends untimely passing Nicole. In light of my current status I would second the PSA.

My lady friend gets her mammograms at home.

In all seriousness: My condolences. These kinds of things can be seriously different if they're caught early.

Ah, Nicole. I know how you feel. I lost a dear friend to that dread disease last November. You have my sympathies. And i echo what you say. We have to take care of ourselves.

So sorry about your friend Nicole. My mother lost a breast and lymph glands over 30yrs ago. She's one of the lucky ones to have survived. My wife is way overdue for a mammogram and cervical cancer test and I keep harping and harping at her. You just prompted me to bring it up again and she's promised me she will. I have lost her once already and she was given back via an incredible miracle (and some wonderful medical people) I know I couldn't bear to lose her for good.

So sorry to hear of you loss.

This might sound funny guys but we should be checking ourselves too. Yes we can get "breast cancer" too. Just thought people would like to know it does not discriminate.

Yes.

My grandmother died a few months after she was diagnosed Stage 4 (it'll be 8 years next week). Estrogen receptor positive--highly treatable. She never had a mammogram.

So sorry for the loss of your friend, Nicole. My SIL had breast cancer just last year. Luckily, it was caught early. She had a mastectomy, went through chemo and radiation, and so far, so good. Her last MRI was negative.

Thank you for sharing this tragic story. It serves well as a reminder that life is so precious, and we need to take care of ourselves.
