So sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend. We can all stand to see those reminders every so often. It's so easy for anyone - male or female - to put off going in for medical tests of any sort.

My mom had a mastectomy years ago and survived and I had a good scare 5 years ago, so I know how important this can be.

Agreed! By the time a family friend found hers it was too late. Three months later she was in the ground. Incredibly fast.
