Default Photoshop Techie Help Please (Color Space)

Our lab, and probably most of them, wants sRGB files to print. I'm finding when I convert from RAW (in photoshop) to JPEG the files default to Adobe RGB 1998. Is there some way I can set this up to default to sRGB which is required by the lab? Also, when I have a file open in PS, and check the color space in File Info, it says uncalibrated..what the hell is that? Calling all techies...any, and all help would be appreciated

in cs5 under edit you can change the color settings and they should become the default after a shutting down the app and restarting...not so sure about the uncalibrated issue..

Open a raw image in ACR. At the bottom, there is a link that shows a few of the settings. Click that and change what you want. I use:

sRBG
16bit
Open as smart object
300dpi

That did it...thanks. Now the ones that were converted prior to this switch that are still Adobe RGB, any quick way to change them all at once, or do I need to do them one at a time?

In PS edit>color settings: set it to srgb. This defines your "default" working color space.

Make note of what settings are being applied by ACR. At the bottom of ACR window you can change the settings applied. It will use the settings last used next time it opens. It does NOT use the file's default color space. (i.e. my NEF's are recorded in AdobeRgb, edited in LR under Pro-photo, and ACR opens them as Srgb)

The "uncalibrated" means nothing..that's under the camera data and is not the images color space.
To see/change the files current color space edit>convert to profile: This will show the file's current color space and allow you to change it if necessary.

Yes, CONVERT to sRGB is very important. You cannot just set it to sRGB because the colors will not be correct.

Thanks so much Guys..If there's one thing I can say about photoshop, you never know it all, and you can learn something new about it everyday.
Appreciate all your quick responses!

That's why I'm stuck with the dang program....
I don't want to have to become "familiar" with a different one.

I personally would not print with anyone who insisted on sRGB. The color space is too small to be of any use. Hint: this tells you how dated their printing equipment is.
