A big thank you to Milosh for your advice on the trip to Croatia and Bosnia that my wife and I are going to be leaving on in the morning..I'm really looking forward to this break..

Just some packing tips for those of you who are going away this summer.. I'm a fairly regular traveller, so I thought I'd share some tips, maybe you could do the same?

If you haven't used that lens in the past 2 months, it's unlikely that you'll need it now.
Keep your camera bag small, and force yourself to leave out anything you don't regularly use.
If someone steals your bag and it has your 70-200 2.8 in it, how upset will you be? If you have your 70-300 that weighs half as much, costs 1/4 as much and is slightly slower, will you be less upset?
TAKE A POINT AND SHOOT if you're going somewhere you've never been before.. There are likely to be times when your DSLR is going to make you a target, so you won't want to get it out, your point and shoot is much easier to use serupticiously.. The quality might be lower, but something is better than nothing.
Take a small bag for your clothes.. Under packing makes your trip more pleasant.. If you buy any presents for the kids etc, you can always get a big duffel bag and put your presents an clothes bag in it.. Packing a small bag out means you're less likely to go over the weight limit on your way back.. A duffel bag purchased in the destination country is cheaper than a penalty fare from the airline.
